A permanent full time position for a senior level Quality Assurance Officer has become available with a successful food business based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. With sites along the east coast of Australia, the company produce and a variety of food products commonly found in supermarkets and home pantries around the country.
Reporting to an experienced QA manager, your role will take responsibility for delegated QA duties ensuring products, processes and documentation are compliant to GFSI and retailer standards. A small but high performing team is in place and you will be able to develop strong working relationships internally with all staff and externally with customers, external consultants, auditors and suppliers. Being a true team player, you will gain rapport across the business by assisting production staff when required and utilise your technical expertise to help develop staff knowledge and promote a culture of food safety and quality mindedness.
Typical duties include (but not limited to):
- Conduct internal HACCP/GMP audits.
- Work with staff to further develop their overall knowledge of quality and food safety.
- Maintain various internal quality programs such as site hygiene/ sanitation, approved suppliers, and pest control.
- Investigate (RCA), resolve and respond to customer complaints.
- Coordinate product testing with third parties.
- Create documentation and SOPs for new products.
- Assist with product labelling (PEAL) and liaise with packaging suppliers.
- Ensure product traceability from suppliers to the consumer.
- Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.
- Assist with external audits and close out non-conformances.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
To give yourself the best possible chance to secure this technical food opportunity, the following qualifications, skills, and experience will ensure your success:
- Qualifications in food science & technology or a related field of science.
- 3+ years experience in food manufacturing / processing.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP and GMP principles.
- Experience with GFSI and retailer standards is highly regarded (e.g. SQF, WSEP CFMSR etc).
- Strong attention to detail
- Customer service background is highly advantageous.
- Highly developed communication skills both written and verbal.
- A proactive can-do team attitude.
