Supervisor – VIC Bulk
- Support our bulk commodity rail freight services across the state.
- Manage shifts across multiple operational sites in Victoria – inc. Dimboola, Melbourne, Geelong, Maryborough & Ouyen.
- Role to be based at Ouyen depot or out of Merbein site as required.

About the Role
The Supervisor plays a key role in providing leadership and guidance to train crew, as well as leading and coordinating the day-to-day operations.
This Regional based role, which can be based at our Ouyen depot with some designated work at our customer site in Merbein, has key accountability for the daily shift running of 5 sites across the state of Victoria, with requirements to successfully manage teams within a designated depot, and, while on shift, remotely, driving safety culture and people-driven outcomes state wide.
This role will have a strong emphasis on implementing business improvements, cultural change, safe working improvements and ensuring productive workplace practices.
In addition, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Pacific National trains run on time, safely and efficiently through consultation with Pacific National’s Bulk Planning & Service Delivery Teams and Network Control.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inspiring and leading a team of safety-focused people by supervising, coordinating and managing operational resources
- Ensuring compliance with the relevant network access regulations and policy standards
- Developing and maintaining the knowledge, skills and attributes required of your team with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and safety
- Coordinating the implementation and communication of organisational, divisional and local safety instructions, as well as assessing your team members via critical control verifications and safety engagements
- Commitment to providing world's best customer service; building excellent relationships with all customers (internal and external) and identifying and developing improved business solutions for our customers.
- Work a rotating 24 hour/ 7 day a week roster
About You

You will have excellent communication and constantly looking for new and innovative approaches to problems and opportunities, whilst also sharing your skills and knowledge with other team members to boost the overall capability performance within the operational business.
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong safety background and:
- Experience in leading, coaching, and motivating a team in a busy environment
- Experience in managing remote teams is advantageous
- Proven strengths in problem solving and analytical ability
- Experience in incident management and investigation reporting is advantageous
- Experience in building and developing a multi-faceted team with a key focus on driving a strong safety culture
- Experience working shift work
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Background in the rail, transport or logistics will be advantageous
- Qualifications in Transport, Logistics or Business Management also advantageous
