Football Australia is the national governing body for football in Australia and a member of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the international governing body for football. ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting into the General Manager - Community Refereeing (FA), this Canberra based fixed term role will provide leadership and direction within the ACT and Region refereeing ecosystem, creating and encouraging a strong culture of respect for match officials, and enhancing the reputation of Capital Football Match officials through strong coaching and development structures that align to domestic pathways structures across Capital and Australian football, in line with Principle VI.

Please note that this role is fixed term until 30 October 2024.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the management of the Capital Football refereeing pathway, including provision of technical direction and feedback to emerging talent
  • Assist with the evaluation processes of the Capital Football NPL refereeing panels and provide appropriate controls
  • Conduct individual pre-season performance focused discussions, regular follow ups, review progress of match officials throughout the season
  • Conduct evaluations of match official performances and post-match coaching for Capital Football competitions
  • Lead the Development of coaching resources for Capital Football match officials
  • Develop a team culture that embraces diverse backgrounds and provides for an inclusive environment that is welcoming for all team members within the ACT
  • Lead the implementation of the national recruitment and retention strategy which enhances the engagement and experience for Match Officials within the ACT.

ABOUT YOU

Experience, Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated ability in leading change
  • Excellent stakeholder management
  • Excellent communication & dispute resolution skills
  • Understanding of officiating at a local, state, and national level
  • Understanding of Member Federation refereeing structures and
    grassroots refereeing landscape
  • Demonstrated ability to create educational materials
  • Previous experience as a community or national match official

Additional Requirements: 

  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Working with children check (paid/ employee) or state- based equivalent 
  • Out of hours and weekend work as required
