Position Summary

Regional Accounting Partner

Latrobe Regional Hospital have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Accountant to join the Finance Department team on a 3 year (possibly longer) Fixed Term basis until June 2026.

Reporting to the General Manager Financial Services, this role will be responsible for managing the financial services of an external health service via a 3-year service level agreement (SLA) with Latrobe Regional Hospital.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Managing all aspects of the accounting functions of the SLA client's Finance Department.
  • Maintaining an accurate General Ledger, reviewing monthly operating results and producing timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders for LRH.
  • Developing and maintaining the SLA client’s hospital budget and preparing financial and budget reports for the Department of Health (DH), client’s Board and Management.
  • Attending Board, Finance and Audit & Risk Committee meetings as required by clients contracted under SLAs with LRH.
  • Coordinating External Financial Audits with Victoria Auditor General’s Office (VAGO) to the extent required by the clients contracted with LRH.
  • Preparation of program acquittals, other financial statements/reports required by third party funding authorities including the DH and Department of Treasury & Finance (DTF) for LRH.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with preparation of financial reports and commentary for presentation to the Board of Directors and other reports that may be requested by the Chief Executive or executive members of the management team at LRH.
  • Managing the interpretation and application of Australian Accounting Standards where applicable to SLA contracted clients.
  • Fulfilling operational requirements by providing financial solutions when required and to perform other tasks required by the LRH Finance Manager and General Manager Financial Services upon request
To be successful in this position you will need to have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting; and
  • Membership of the CA or CPA is desirable, not mandatory; and
  • Competent computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel; and
  • Prior experience in ORACLE or similar accounting software; and
  • Experience in a public hospital or a large health organisation (desirable).

Enterprise Agreement includes five (5) weeks of accrued annual leave per year plus the option of a monthly accrued day off (ADO) for full time employees. Hourly salary is exclusive of superannuation entitlements and salary packaging options are available for all employees.
