Form of work About the role
Reporting to the State Manager, you will find yourself at the heart of the Tonkin Steel operations in North and Far North Queensland. Overseeing 5 branches with a total of 65 staff, you will be a custodian of the proud Tonkin Steel brand, generating business whilst keeping local relationships strong.
You will focus on:
Managing the Tonkin brand and strong market positioning founded on customer service
Develop, implement and execute a strategy to improve the operational performance of all sites in north Queensland
Lead, coach and mentor a team of 5 direct reports to drive the operational and financial performance of the business
Identify, develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the business
Have full P&L responsibility for the business
Build and manage relationships with key customers across the region.
Lead the change management program following the acquisition of Tonkin Steel by GFG Alliance.
About your experience
We are looking for someone with experience leading a similar multi-site or larger single-site business, an ability to think strategically and a background in operations and business improvement within the distribution or supply chain industry.
The ideal candidate will also have:
A passion for excellent customer service
Exceptional communication skills with a high level of emotional intelligence
The ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and influence people across all levels and from all backgrounds
The ability to lead, coach and develop a team across a geographically challenging area
A strategic mindset with a passion for customer service and operational improvement
A track record of successfully managing change and integrating new business operations.
