  • Tertiary qualifications in Architecture
  • Registered with the Architects Registration Board
  • Current and up to date registration with Architect Institute of Australia

Position Summary :

The role of Senior Architect/ Principal Consultant is a senior position within the Aspect group. The role encompasses a broad range of activities including initial client briefs and conceptual design through to full construction documentation, consultant coordination and site reviews. This role is key in maintaining and building relationships with clients and contractors, as well as efficiently managing, and coordinating efficiencies surrounding both internal and external documentation suites.

Key Requirements :

  • An ability to translate the design requirements of the project
  • An ability to negotiate with the design team, matters of critical or technical importance which may influence the creative direction
  • Ability to work through technical design issues with consultants to find cost-effective solutions for our clients
  • Excellent client management skills
  • Project Directorship and mentoring of staff with the ability to communicate effectively
  • An understanding of the requirements to design a building to suit a particular purpose
  • Understanding of history, and cultural and environmental concerns
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting with at least a full understanding of AutoCAD, Revit for 3D modelling
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office

Job Responsibility :

Project Co-ordination which includes: -

Meeting(s) and/or correspondence with consultant team.

Meeting(s) and/or correspondence with the Client and/or their representative.

Minimize duplication and/or re-work of documentation suites.

Review Team Member work which includes: -

Cross-check team member work against instructions.

Sign-off of documentation before issuing out of Office.

Project Management Conduit which includes: -

Communicate and work directly between the Design and Project Management teams to streamline expectations and deliverables.

Design & Construct Coordinator which includes: -

Structure efficiencies in documentation suites needed for deemed competent site professionals to deliver their required objectives.

Act as the conduit between the D&C Contractors key person to manage expectations and deliverables.

Ensure design documentation does not exceed requirements.

Minimize duplication of Standards and Codes.

  • Work with management to obtain a client brief in order to determine the type, style and size of the building or the space within the building that is to be designed, built and/or refurbished
  • Organization of the planning process in terms of designs, materials, building times and costs estimates
  • Experience in Project leadership and be proficient in dealing with outside contractors
  • To have capabilities in commercial projects including interior and documentation
  • Prepare preliminary drawings and other documentation including sketches and scale drawings
  • Prepare architectural drawings and specifications for submission to town planning authorities
  • Prepare working drawings and specifications for use by builders
  • Preparation of tender documents and call tenders on behalf of clients
  • Consult with engineers, designers, and other experts to achieve project objectives
  • Carry out site visits and oversee construction works to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Complete weekly timesheets and be responsible for effective time management
  • Adhere strictly to realistic project deadlines as assigned by management
  • Manage the budgets and timelines of projects under your supervision
  • Communicate and delegate tasks to your team
  • Conduct staff appraisals when required

Leadership:

Manage the Team efficiently and effectively which includes:

Promote efficiencies in documentation suites.

Reduce companywide write-offs by 5% annually.

Work with existing staff to across multiple offices.

Co-ordination of resources on a weekly basis.

Delegation of tasks to team member(s) with clarity of instruction.

Prioritisation of projects and deadlines through regular weekly workflow meetings.

Report on team workflow to the Executive(s) aligning deliverables with the groups pre-defined benchmarks.

Team Productivity Levels at above 85%.

Regular, progress billing of client work completed to meet Team Member billing targets

Report and assess Team Member Performance which includes: -

Regular reports to Executives (s) on Productivity & Availability.

Liaison with Executive (s) on training needs.

Mentor the Team which includes: -

Leading the team by example (i.e. alignment with key behaviours).

Guide the team to bring out the best in everyone.

Commit to a set time for weekly training to improve and encourage design skills & knowledge (e.g. Revit Training).

Adopt a management style and work ethic which aligns with the group’s key behaviours.
