Tresillian are currently recruiting for Registered Nursesand/or Registered Midwives with Child and Family Health or be prepared to acquire within 12 months of employment to join the team at our new facility which will be opening in Mid October 2023.  The facility will operate  24 hours, 7 days a week. Please indicate your preference of hours on your application to be considered.

This position will be involved in the provision of quality Child and Family Health services to families caring for children 0-3 years of age within a Tresillian service. This will be achieved by working within the Tresillian Model of Care, Practice Principles and the NSW Health Professional Practice Framework for Child and Family Health (CFHN). 

The CFHN will use a strength-based and wellness focus, building on parental confidence and skills through the provision of information, education, resources, guidance and role modelling safe responsive care. The Child and Family Health nurse, utilising evidenced based screening and assessment tools, uses their family partnership skills to identify health variations or family vulnerabilities in order to negotiate individual care plans and discharge pathways to meet the goals of the family.

The Royal Society for the Welfare of Mothers and Babies, trading as Tresillian, was formed in 1918 to coordinate early Child and maternal health care services in New South Wales (NSW). Tresillian is now the largest early Child and Family Health and parenting service in Australia, operating from four sites in metropolitan Sydney and numerous regional and rural sites supporting service provision to families across NSW, Victoria and ACT.

Tresillian provides local and state-wide services including: health and parenting assessments; parenting advice; education; and, support to families via a range of service delivery models including centre based day programs, home visiting, telephone, internet and residential services. Selection Criteria – Applicants must address the Selection Criteria 

  • Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse and/or RegisteredMidwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Postgraduate/post registration qualifications in Child and Family Health or working towards (must be enrolled).
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, evidence based practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in attending to the physical, social and emotional needs of children, and their families.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of population health and primary health care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles and skills of working in partnership and the principles that underpin NSW Safestart, within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, including computer literacy.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence Class C

Appropriate criminal record and child protection checks are conducted for all successful candidates. Employment with Tresillian is subject to having current immunity status that complies with the Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases - Policy Directive Immunisation history complies with NSW Health Policy Directive PD2023_022. Appointment and ongoing employment will be subject to continued compliance with the policy directive.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. 

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.  Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available
