The Role:
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join the team at North West Area Mental Health Service, Broadmeadows Community Care Unit.
The North West Community Care Unit (NW CCU) provides a 24-hour community based residential recovery program to people who experience mental ill health utilising a Recovery Orientated framework. The CCU provides a therapeutic environment in which recovery programs are tailored to meet individual consumer needs.
NWCCU is looking for a motivated and innovative registered nurse to undertake a primary key clinician role working alongside consumers to support them in achieving their personal recovery goals utilising a Recovery Orientated framework. Great opportunities exist to expand skills in group work and holding portfolios. There will be opportunities to act up as shift leader, following orientation, and there may be opportunities for allocated shifts and duties within our Prevention and Recovery Care Centre (PARC) to support an integrated model.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Minimum 2 years' experience as RPN 2 in public mental health and good working knowledge of community mental health nursing
- Completion of Post Graduate Mental Health Nursing Diploma
- Proven ability to conduct Mental State Assessments, Risk Assessments
- Proficiency in Medication Management
- Sound working knowledge of Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation
- Culturally responsive care, Trauma informed care, Recovery Orientated practice
