Job Description
This is a newly created role that sits within the Group Life, Line 1 Risk and Governance team.
This team is responsible for providing support to all business units across Group Life, Investments and Health Services by ensuring that all risk and operational responsibilities are applied in accordance with the regulatory & compliance requirements placed upon the Insurance and Superannuation industries.
The Remediation Manager role is a delivery role which will support 2 key functions:
- The analysis, coordination and delivery of internal and external remediation activities that impact TAL customers and/or alliance partners in the Group Life & Investments business.
- The oversight of inflight and upcoming Regulatory/Legislative changes to review business impacts and co-ordinate activities to manage the changes.
- Define a roadmap of remediation activities in consultation with multiple teams and stakeholders which requires effective prioritisation and understanding of Regulatory, Customer and/or Partner impacts
- Coordinate the formulation of remediation strategies and implementation plans for key corrective actions and preventative controls, including obtaining relevant approvals.
- Engage with various stakeholders to define scope and impact of upcoming Regulatory and/or Legislative changes
- Maintain oversight of pipeline of inflight and upcoming Regulatory changes to assess business impacts and determine change approach required for each change
- Work with stakeholders to analyse and quantify the impact of items requiring remediation whilst operating within TAL's Risk and Compliance guidelines and upholding the TAL Customer philosophies
- Work with the GL&I Line 1 Risk team to ensure adequate visibility and reporting of all items identified requiring remediation
- Manage internal stakeholders to ensure all Customer impacting items are remediated in a timely manner
- Deliver regular remediation reporting to key internal stakeholders
- Build strong relationship with IT teams to ensure we can influence their roadmap with any initiatives that require IT development
To be successful in this role you will have:
- At least 5 years' experience working within a similar role, ideally within the life insurance or financial services industry
- Operational Risk & Compliance/Remediation/Project Management background
- Strong understanding of the insurance industry, including detailed operational knowledge
- Familiarity with the relevant regulatory bodies and legal compliance requirements of the Life Insurance & Superannuation industries (e.g. Corps Act, SIS Act, LICOP)
- Good computer literacy in relevant software's including MS Excel
- Proven relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Solid project management skills with strong analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills in order to articulate technical issues and formulate correspondence
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills
- Process improvement background and adept at problem solving
- Experience owning a process to be able to independently manage a work stream
