Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced and resilient Critical Care & Emergency Department Nurses to join our team in providing essential healthcare services to residents in remote areas of Western Australia. As a Critical Care & Emergency Department Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering specialised nursing care, managing critical incidents, and stabilising patients in emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert nursing care to critically ill and injured patients in the Emergency Department and Critical Care units, including triage, assessment, stabilisation, and ongoing management.
- Perform advanced clinical interventions and procedures, including airway management, cardiac monitoring, and administration of emergency medications, by established protocols and best practice guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and paramedics, to coordinate timely and effective patient care.
- Monitor and evaluate patient responses to treatment and interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary to optimise outcomes and ensure patient safety.
- Provide education and support to patients and families on Critical Care interventions, treatment options, and post-discharge care instructions to promote continuity of Care and patient recovery.
- Participate in disaster preparedness and response initiatives, mass casualty incidents, and community emergency preparedness programs to enhance community resilience and response capabilities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment by professional standards and organisational policies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Nursing, Emergency Nursing, or relevant specialty areas is highly desirable.
- ALS, IV cannulation skills, Triage
- Minimum of two years of recent experience working in Critical Care or Emergency Department settings, with proficiency in managing complex and high-acuity patients.
- Advanced clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritise Care and make rapid decisions in emergencies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and communicate compassionately with patients and their families.
- Current certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and other relevant emergency certifications.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of Indigenous populations and other diverse communities in remote areas.
- Flexibility to adapt to the challenges and demands of remote area practice, including limited resources and geographical isolation.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to remote communities as required.
