This role is to support the power team who work throughout Australasia on iconic projects that are shaping the energy transition journey to net-zero carbon emissions. We deliver innovative technical solutions to our high voltage power generation, transmission and distribution clients across Australasia
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Renewable (Future Energy) Engineer to continue to grow and shape the success of our Power team in Australia. This opportunity will allow you to realise your own potential and achieve a step-change in your career.
In this Melbourne or Sydney based role you will:
Lead the technical delivery of future energy projects from feasibility, concept designs, detail designs and owner’s engineer
Develop, mentor and lead junior engineers
Support the ANZ Future Energy Leader in strategic bids and tenders in future energy across ANZ and support cross business line activities
As a Renewable (Future Energy) Engineer, you will work within our Future Energy Team to develop and design renewable energy solutions for our as the industry transition to a low carbon future.
Your primary duties will include:
Designing renewable energy systems - You will be responsible for designing renewable energy systems that are cost-effective, efficient, and reliable. This includes wind, solar, energy storage, HV integration and microgrids for in front of and behind the meter systems.
Conducting feasibility studies - You will need to conduct feasibility studies to determine the viability of renewable energy projects. You will evaluate the site, the resources available, and the economic and environmental impact of the project and provide advice to our clients accordingly.
Procurement strategy - Based on the feasibility study results, you will develop procurement strategies tailed to our client requirements that outline the scope of the project, the timeline, the budget, and the expected outcomes.
Technical Advisory Services - You will provide client-side technical advisory services during the design, procurement and construction the renewable energy systems. You will work closely with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes.
Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and regulations - You will need to stay current with industry trends, research, and developments in renewable energy
What We’ll Like About You
We are seeking someone who is passionate about renewable energy and looking to make a difference! The successful individual will possess strong communication skills with the ability to connect with a wide range of key stakeholders across the business. Having experience in project delivery with a demonstrated track record in delivering future energy projects and the ability to develop, mentor and lead professional engineers along with a good understanding of National Electricity Market, & relevant national and local standards will be required.
Futhermore to be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, or a related field along with the following:
- Intermediate to senior level of professional experience in renewable industry
- Good understanding of the Future Energy market and key technologies such as solar PV, wind, BESS, microgrids etc.
- Good experience in high voltage system from 22 kV and upwards and renewable energy integration
- Good understanding of the Australia and/or New Zealand energy market
- Experience in developing technical specification and scope of works for renewable energy projects would be an advantage
- Experience in undertaking technical reviews of engineering design documentation prepared by third parties (owners engineering)
- Experience in design package preparation for renewable energy projects including site layouts, single line diagrams, protection SLDs, test procedures, high quality reports, etc.
- Experience in consulting skills, tender management and commercials would be an advantage
- Experience in undertaking site visits and site assessment to meet the client requirements would be an advantage
- Experience in undertaking commissioning activities like FAT (Factory acceptance testing) & SAT (site acceptance testing) would be an advantage
- Experience in software packages such as Helioscope, PVSyst, HOMER etc.
