Supporting People with Disability at Transport

People with disability and carers at Transport are invited to join dedicated professional communities including our Enabled staff network, creating opportunities for colleagues to connect, share and grow in a psychologically safe space.

Transport utilises the Public Service Commission Disability Awareness modules for all staff to upskill on the social model of disability and practice more inclusive ways of working. Our staff have access to reasonable adjustments through our Workplace Adjustment Procedure, enabling access to meaningful work which removes the attitudinal, structural, physical and systemic barriers to participation.

Within Sydney Trains Engineering & Maintenance we have our own commitments to diversity & inclusion, with a disability focuses stream driven by our leaders. Across Transport we’re also working to make a more inclusive organisation through the development of our first Access & Inclusion Plan along with our next Disability Inclusion Action Plan.

Right now, over 550 People with Disability have shared their information in our systems and make up 2% of our overall workforce. We’re working to increase that representation to 5.4% by 2025 through recruitment, retention, and awareness.
