The Department of Surgery is based across the seven precincts of the Melbourne Medical School, all at key hospital sites, as well as conducting academic activities in surgery at other hospitals.

About the Role

The research program manager will manage ARISTOCRAT, a first of its kind in Australia research-driven, stem cell-based consortium that aims to advance therapies that will allow live cells to be 3D printed and used as a material for treatments. 

The goal of this innovative solution is to repair cartilage loss which leads to burdensome joint deformity and facial disfigurement from ear and nose loss.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing and delivering on the implementation of priority actions for key partners
• Developing and implementing a partnership framework that builds on opportunities to create high-level research programs for research translation and maximum research impact
• Initiating and leading negotiations with key partners to gain commitment to projects, and delivery of activities to meet timelines
• Providing authoritative, high-quality reports and briefs in a range of visual, written, and verbal mediums on complex issues

About You

You will be an experienced professional with a background in research. Your keen attention to detail and excellent interpersonal communication skills will allow you to build relationships and collaborate with key clinical, academic, and industry collaborators. You will have high levels of initiative with demonstrated ability to plan, implement, prioritise, and set deadlines.

You will also have:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Health/Medical or related area
• Relevant experience with Ethics and Regulatory Affairs
• Demonstrated expertise in managing complex research projects across multiple organisations
• Demonstrable understanding of the ethical, legal, and regulatory compliance issues relating to the use of humans and human specimens in research
