Primary Objective(s) of role:

• The Research Scientist is responsible to the Medical Unit Head, Gastroenterology Unit and will assist with research project co-ordination within Gastroenterology.
• The research scientist is responsible for providing a range of expert professional support for the co-ordination of research protocols, in accordance with study protocols, ethics requirements and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. In this capacity the research position coordinates patient recruitment functions, appointments and clinical follow up, and manages the collection of data and specimens, and analysis of samples. This includes assisting in the preparation of documents for ethics approval, keeping accurate trial records, and the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
• The position also plays a key role in the identification, delivery and evaluation of research outcomes and works closely with other health professionals and agencies, in partnership with patients and their families, to the ensure optimum production of high quality and health oriented research data.
