For 22 years now, Spellbox has operated from it’s beautiful and enchanting shop in Melbourne’s iconic Royal Parade - a place of bewitching magick where spells, potions and charms awaken the heart and mind to beauty and wonder. Each item in the Spellbox product range is woven from mystic lore and the magick of nature and then assembled and blessed at the Spellbox workshop. The business expands this year with their soon to launch events space which will be named the Spellbox Cauldron and will host individual and team readings, marriage blessings and other magickal events. The 13 members of the Spellbox Team continuously work towards providing each and every person who visits the shop with a magickal experience. The business continues to go from success to success with support from their loyal customers.
About the Position
Reporting through to a creative and successful business owner, your primary objective will be to lead the Spellbox Team of 13 team members to deliver great results and a magickal customer experience across the business’ Spellbox Shop, new events space and online shop.
Important to your success in this role will be your organisation, planning, problem solving and process improvement abilities. Learning and understanding the different aspects of the business will be important [shop, events & online], same too will be learning and understanding the current business systems and processes that are used by the team in their work each day. A key focus of your role will be to help the business become better organised and more efficient and to identify better ways to do things.
You will be working as the 2IC of the business and together you will develop and actualise plans that enable the business to grow further.
Responsibilities and tasks will include things like;
- Managing the staff rosters and the effective delegation of day-to-day activities of the team;
- Reviewing team member roles and their job descriptions;
- Assisting in the store to cover lunch breaks;
- Leading by example by setting the standards for the team – Engaging through the culture and the style of customer experience that SpellBox is renowned for.
- Developing team members through mentoring, providing feedback and supporting them to grow.
- Reviewing the current processes, identifying projects to improve the processes and successfully completing them to bring wins for the business.
- Overseeing the management of stock and building relationships with supply partners with feedback.
- Reviewing the business finances and monthly profit and loss results with the business owner and providing analysis and insights.
- Identifying new potential products and services to further the success of the business.

This position is ideally suited to an experienced Store Manager or Customer Experience Leader who has a passion for beautiful retail spaces, creating and improving business systems and processes and a desire to lead a unique team to deliver a magickal customer experience.
Additional Selection Criteria includes;
- Strong planning and organisational skills – complemented by a methodical approach and strong attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills – you will be an honest and clear communicator who connects well and engages others;
- The knack for problem-solving – you’ll view problems as opportunities and persist until the best solution is found, and;
- Good computer & social media skills – we’re in search of a ‘tech savvy’ individual who can bring fresh ideas and new efficiencies.
