WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

The Thrift Shop is a vital part of The Salvation Army Parafield Gardens. We are looking for a Thrift Shop Manager who exudes our values of integrity, compassion, respect, diversity and collaboration. Understanding that the Thrift Shop exists to meet community and come alongside those who need us most, the key focus is always on the people we serve.

The Thrift Shop Manager will participate in a greater mission supporting the Corps Officers, leading volunteers, and collaborating with a unified identity across all aspects of Parafield Gardens Salvos. Applicants are encouraged to envision not just a retail opportunity, but becoming an integral part of a new era of community engagement and collaborative mission in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. This position is full- time, max term.

THE ROLE YOU COULD PLAY

You will lead a healthy inclusive culture of generosity with a professional business approach, ensuring positive community spirit amongst the volunteer team and provides an overall welcoming environment for our customers.
Oversee the operations of the shop- quality customer service, diligence in cash handling and banking, quality sorting of donated goods, pricing and maintaining the general appearance and upkeep of the shop.
Supervision & Management of all volunteers – Recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers, guidance and mentoring of volunteers to ensure their practices are consistent with TSA mission and values.
Achieve budget and grow sales – Work with Corps Officers to set and achieve an annual budget, track daily sales in line with budget targets, encourage local community and businesses to donate quality goods to maintain sales.
Provide quality customer service- Provide coaching to volunteers of good customer service and provide feedback and encouragement.
Maintain a safe and healthy environment – All volunteers, employees and customers follow WHS policies and procedures and that you are demonstrating good WHS practice.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Experience in Customer Service and Retail
Experience in Managing a team of staff/volunteers
Complete TSA induction modules and any other training as required
First Aid Certificate (advantage)
A national police record check is required
Vaccination Status
Drivers Licence
Working with Children Check

The Salvation Army is subject to public health orders. You may be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements.
