What Does Success Look Like in this Role?
We are looking for someone who understands what it takes to ensure our people thrive and are kept safe at work.
Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you will be part of an integral and supportive team based at our Head Office in Brisbane. This is a newly created position and you will be a subject matter expert on all things Injury Management and Return To Work. This means that you will lead and manage work and non-work related injuries and illnesses to ensure the best recovery and return to work outcomes. You will provide advice and support to the business on a broad range of WHS matters as well.
The Difference You’ll Make
Manage and monitor the progress of external workers compensation claims, non-work related matters, and ergonomic requests as well as the employee’s recovery.
Regularly consult and liaise with the injured or ill employee, the employer, treating medical practitioners, rehabilitation providers and the relevant insurer, ensuring that the employee is progressing and able to return to full duties in a timely manner.
Develop and maintain effective claim management strategies in conjunction with our workers compensation insurer and relevant internal stakeholders to manage and mitigate individual claims and complex claims.
Proactively coordinate National Storage’s response to common law injury claims ensuring the best interests of the business, through effective collaboration with third parties and through the provision of advice and recommendations to the leadership team to inform commercially sound decision making.
Implement and drive Wellness programs to increase positive health outcomes in line with Safety KPIs (reduction in RTW duration/incidents).
Lead the psychosocial risk surveys and facilitate the company wide improvement plans.
Manage, administer and report on LMS compliance training, in conjunction with key stakeholders, including the People and Culture team and the Safety team.
Maintain the internal incident database for the business.
Continuously monitor trends and opportunities for improvement and provide regular reports and advice to the P&C and WHS teams to foster a holistic understanding of the health, safety and wellbeing of National Storage staff and to inform effective intervention to support positive wellbeing outcomes.
Analyse and establish trends in incidents and injuries that have resulted in workers compensation claims and time off for staff.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
A minimum of 3-5 years’ demonstrated experience in managing workers compensation claims, WHS compliance support, workplace rehabilitation and return to work activities for a medium to large sized organisaiton.
Exceptional ability to schedule, program manage and manage data.
A keen eye for detail – you have a sense of urgency without compromising quality
Ability to work well without supervision with the ability to exercise initiative
Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety (desirable).
Certification as a Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator (desirable).
