Drive change and provide advice to manage risk and compliance
Firbank Grammar is seeking a Risk and Compliance Manager, with the primary purpose of ensuring a whole school approach to Risk Management, Compliance and Occupational Health and Safety. This includes maintaining and implementing the school’s governance, risk and compliance program, incident management, policy management and assurance.
This pivotal position partners with key stakeholders to provide guidance and advice regarding legislative and regulatory compliance programs, to ensure an integrated approach to compliance and risk management at Firbank Grammar.
Key Result Areas:
Risk Management
Provide specialist advice to the School Leadership on the design and implementation of the School’s risk management strategy and frameworks
Actively promote a strong risk management and compliance culture and raise awareness across the School
Develop succinct and informative Board-level reporting on risk profiles and controls
Compliance
Manage the development, implementation, documentation and dissemination of relevant policy, procedures, processes, controls and guidelines to promote a compliance culture and reduce risk across the school, including the relevant professional learning modules for various sectors of the community.
Identify all gaps in the school’s policy register, and ensure the school has the policies in place to ensure business practices are within legislated guidelines or compliance mandates from regulatory bodies.
Workplace Health and Safety
Keep up to date on legal and/or regulatory changes that may impact the School and make recommendations where existing procedures and practices may require review.
Review and maintain the Incident Reporting System, procedures, tools and checklists.
Investigate and report on incidents, recommending corrective and preventative actions as appropriate.
Play an active role as a member of the School’s OHS Committee, including the compilation and submission of incident reporting.
Conduct OHS Audits.
Develop and provide training for staff as required, including Emergency procedures training, Health and Safety onboarding for new staff, and Child Safety Training
Injury Prevention/Management
Develop and implement OH&S inspection and management audit tools and implement an audit schedule for each Campus
Assist in injury prevention through the implementation of risk management activities
Oversee the Worksafe process for injured staff, including assisting staff in raising claims, manage ongoing claims, oversee return-to-work obligations
Required Experience
Compliance and OH&S experience within a small-to-medium, complex organisation (experience in the Education Sector would be highly valued)
The ability to ensure compliance and prioritisation of Child Safety Standards
Proven capacity to innovate and to manage complex projects efficiently.
Ability to initiate procedural improvements and develop sound internal systems.
Extensive knowledge of the statutory requirements governing the operations of a OH&S function including the OH&S and Workers Compensation legislation, codes of practice, regulations and guidelines
Commitment to meeting quality standards, and the willingness to update their skills and knowledge on a regular basis.
A current Working with Children Check.
The role currently on offer is part time (3 days a week), term time only. However, there is potential for this role to become a 4 or 5 day a week role in the future.
