Sunshine Sailing Australia's sailing school is recognised as one of Australia's leading sail training and experience providers. Offering RYA & AS sailing courses, as well as local and national sailing race events such as the Rolex Sydney to Hobart, the Hamilton Island Race Week and the Brisbane to Gladstone.Sunshine Sailing Australia is located at The Mooloolaba Marina 33-45 Parkyn Parade on the edge of the Mooloolah River, meters from the sea and 100 paces from the best beach in Queensland.The Opportunity:We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled RYA Sail Chief Instructor and Head Coach to lead our sailing program and elevate our training standards. As the RYA Sail Chief Instructor, you will be a key member of our team, responsible for shaping the future of sailing instruction at our organization.Key Responsibilities & RequirementsLead and manage the delivery of RYA sailing courses, ensuring the highest standards of safety and instruction.
Mentor, train, and supervise our team of sailing instructors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of RYA standards and best practices.
Coordinate the maintenance of the vessels, ensuring they are always ready for courses
Collaborate with the management team on program development, equipment maintenance, and instructor recruitment.
Must teach at least 5-days on-water each month.
Must be able to teach in other locations for a portion of the year.
Must have experience in catamaran sailing, and the ability to train others on catamaran
Act as a positive ambassador for our organization and the sport of sailing.
Qualifications:Mandatory:Current RYA Yachtmaster Instructor (YMI) certification
RYA Powerboat Level 2 Instructor certification
RYA Diesel Engine Instructor certification
Highly Desirable:Experience in a leadership role within an RYA training center
RYA Radar Instructor
Strong understanding of adult learning principles
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
Exceptional sailing skills and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
