Molonglo Support Services (Molonglo) is a not-for-profit charity and community organisation based in Queanbeyan that supports people in crisis experiencing domestic and family violence and/or homelessness. Our mission is to support people experiencing difficulties due to homelessness and domestic and family violence by providing responsive interventions and crisis support.  Molonglo is the service provider for Monaro Hume Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service and manages Louisa Domestic Violence Service, Your Place Housing Support Service and Staying Home Leaving Violence.

The Program

The Monaro-Hume Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (M-H WDVCAS) is a frontline support service for women and their children who have experienced domestic and/or family violence (DFV). We work collaboratively with NSW Police and other Community Service Partners to assist women to obtain effective legal protection through applications for Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (ADVOs).

The Position

The Safety Action Meeting Coordinator is primarily responsible for the coordination of Safety Action Meetings (SAM). These are held fortnightly with Police and other Government and Non-Government agencies to develop safety action plans for women who have been assessed as at serious threat due to DFV.  

The SAM Coordinator also works within the WDVCAS team to provide support to women. Reporting directly to the M-H WDVCAS Manager, the SAM Coordinator must demonstrate strong interpersonal and organisational skills to effectively manage the running of the SAMs.

Day to day duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

  1. Coordinating and monitoring SAMs in the WDVCAS area including secretariat support (developing SAM agendas, recording Safety Action Plans)
  2. Liaising with clients in relation to Safety Action Plans developed at SAMs and/or support provided, or arranged, by the WDVCAS
  3. Ensuring timely data entry, and providing timely feedback regarding CRP referrals to the WDVCAP Unit where there are issues
  4. Working with the WDVCAS Manager to develop and administer policies, systems and processes for the effective operation of SAMs
  5. Complying with the SAM Manual, the Domestic Violence Information Sharing Protocol, the WDVCAP Policy and Procedure Manual and any other operational documents
  6. Assisting the WDVCAS to comply with reporting requirements under the WDVCAP Service Agreement, WDVCAP Policy and Procedure Manual, the SAM Manual and other operational documents in relation to WDVCAS responsibilities 
  7. Building and maintaining constructive and positive working relationships with SAM members, in particular the SAM Chair and DVLOs 
  8. Participating in relevant community engagement activities

Selection Criteria

  1. Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  2. Excellent networking skills
  3. Excellent communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution
  4. Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics, complexities and legal and social welfare consequences of domestic and family violence 
  5. Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic and family violence including AVO applications and criminal prosecutions and related legal matters such as family law, care and protection, migration and victim’s compensation issues
  6. Ability to deliver services in accordance with the WDVCAP model of service delivery outlined in the WDVCAP Service Agreement, this Policy and Procedure Manual, the SAM Manual and operational documents
  7. Knowledge of the domestic and family violence service system in NSW; and 
  8. Current clearance in relation to Working with Children and National Police checks

Remuneration will the SCHCADS award Level 5.1 - 6.1, depending on experience, 35 hours per week and will benefit from working for a supportive organisation with excellent ongoing professional development opportunities and availability of salary sacrifice options.
