PURPOSE OF THE SERVICE:
To support the delivery of efficient WHS strategies, support and advise within the relevant worksites of Unisson. To secure the health and safety of clients and Unisson employees through elimination or minimisation of risks, fair & effective representation, consultation, co-operation, education & training, effective & appropriate compliance and enforcement measures.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
This role is responsible for promoting the importance of safe work practices and safety culture across Unisson. The role will focus on ensuing greater safety awareness at Unisson by systematically being involved in the development of workplace Health and Safety across Unisson in addition to other functional tasks and projects that promote best practice in safety.
This role profile is to be read in conjunction with the employee's Contract of Employment.

OUR PURPOSE
ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure work performance, practice and the delivery of service is consistent with the:
- Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011 • Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 2017 • Workers Compensation Act 1987 as of 17 November 2021 • National Standards for Disability Services • Disability Inclusion Act 2014 • National Disability Insurance Scheme • NDIS Practice Standards • NDIS Code of Conduct • Unisson Disability's purpose and values, policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct.
- Respond to all incidents and injuries in accordance with Unisson Disability's procedures and practices.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety at the workplace by complying with the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2011 and Regulation 2017.
- Report and monitor safety processes in accordance with procedures.
- Ensure all current legislative and Safety@Unisson internal requirements are adhered to, and that adequate records are maintained at all times with utmost confidentiality.
- Demonstrate the required safety behaviours and practices to all staff to encourage continuous improvement in safety culture and develop the required levels of safety knowledge, skills and capability.
- Create shared ownership of safety and risk across team leaders and managers.
- Contribute to the implementation of Unisson's WHS policy and procedures.
- Contribute to a safe working environment for clients, staff, contractors and members of the public by adhering to Unisson's workplace health and safety practices.
- Complete internal audits at Unisson sites, prepare final audit reports with corrective actions.
- Identify the need for local safety initiatives and elevate them to the Manager, Safety for consideration.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with Managers / Team Leaders and staff across Unisson to help develop their understanding of risks and reduce injuries in the workplace
- Assistance with preparation for quarterly WH&S meetings including gathering and collating general inspection checklists for all sites prior to and after the WH&S meetings and analysing the level of risk.
- Assisting developing, implementing, and reviewing the Site Safety Action Plans across all sites at Unisson
- Work with property to enable implementation of safe facilities management.
- Monthly reporting and other relevant reporting when requested and required
- Ad hoc duties as required and relevant.
- A clear understanding of the concepts and process around contemporary safety performance.
- The audit review of contractor(s) to ensure they have all appropriate WHS systems in place.
- Deliver systematic mandatory and specialised training Region wide; ensure that WHS induction and on boarding processes are applied across the region for all new employees.

- Demonstrated understanding of the Not for Profit (NFP) sector.
- Previous exposure to, or understanding of, disability services.

- Actively participate in practice support meetings and annual performance reviews.
- Participate in staff meetings and training courses as required.
- Actively seek out information to remain current and knowledgeable in the developments of WHS generally and in particular within the disability sector
- Experience with the implementation and maintenance of a WHS management system in a diverse working environment.
- Ability to engage and multitask in a timely manner across multiple workplaces.
- Ability to travel within NSW to attend meetings, deliver training and provide general
- Commitment and ability to work and add value within a team environment.

- Willingness to undertake regular personal development activity as suggested or directed by the Manager, Safety.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the Work, Health & Safety domain preferably in the Healthcare or Social Assistance sectors.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (Minimum)
