We have two great opportunities for safety professionals to advise and partner with the business for all HSE matters and safety culture improvements. One role is partnering across VIC/TAS and the other role is partnering across VIC/NSW .
Based at Ravenhall, the roles will support across National Support Office, Company Stores and Joint Ventures. Th e SHE Advisor’s main purpose is to focus on deployment, implementation and coordination of programs, policies and procedures relating to Metcash/IHG Safety, Health & Environment Management while also maintaining current IHG Retail risk and assurance key activities.
The roles are also responsible for proactively driving implementation of the IHG National Retail Group SHE Plan to include deployment of practices which support legislative requirements, building capability across all levels of IHG Group Leadership, fostering a safe and collaborative workforce, business partner engagement and driving SHE continuous improvement.
What you’ll do
Provide advice and support to P&C business partners and management across the entire SHE framework, including due diligence for new business acquisitions, injury management programs, policies and processes
Ensure SHE processes are implemented across all locations establishing a safety culture
Support Metcash’s National Health Injury Management to align injury management with Metcash/IHG workers compensation policies and processes. Support Metcash Injury Management ensure injury management processes are effective and appropriate duty of care is provided to all injured workers
Proactively manage safety, health, and environment; coach and build capability in others including the completion of any annual safety training needs as required
Promote leadership to include key performance indicators for direct reports for the completion of safety engagement conservations to reinforce the right behaviours and contribute to a safe culture
Build leaders capability to lead high potential SHE incident investigations to verify appropriateness of corrective actions and communication of learnings to align all with Metcash Leadership and Behaviour Frameworks
Provide accurate, timely and insightful reporting to relevant stakeholders including attending meetings as required, acting as communication conduit between Metcash SHE team in conjunction with IHG SHE team
Liaise with regulators to notify of required incidents, including liaison with relevant pillar leaders to close out improvement and other state and regulatory notices
Conduct annual audits to verify safety behaviour is in line with organisational values and in accordance with required SHE management systems and procedures
Conduct due diligence audits on all new acquisitions to prioritise corrective actions with any high risks and/or hazards identified. Work with leaders to review and develop action plans to address observations and non-conformances from audits to achieve continuous improvement
Complete retail traffic management risk assessments and site traffic management plans

WHS/OHS Technical expertise
Technical expertise and experience in observing the workplace to identify areas where pedestrians and vehicles interact. Experience in traffic management risk assessments and the development of site traffic plans for site specific traffic controls.
Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislative knowledge and understanding of current National Heavy Vehicle Law (HVNL)
