Our Arndell Park Distribution Centre is looking for a Safety Officer to join the team. One of your core responsibilities will be to provide a comprehensive service including SHE co-ordination, claims and injury management through effective implementation of systems, legal compliance, and communication. You will help promote a culture of SHE ownership across site and maintain consistency of SHE practices which is compliant with relevant legislation and Nestle requirements.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Implement the SHE strategy on site including management systems, and specific projects
- Improve and ensure continuous improvement and focus on a safe culture at Smithtown
- Coordinate the completion of appropriate hazard identification and risk assessments to eliminate employee health risks and provide improvements to the process through managing change in reporting and recording.
- Liaise with employee, management, and medical providers during injury period to ensure adequate medical treatment is being administered and return to work plans and alternative duties are available where practicable
- Manage the administration and documentation trail of worker’s compensation claims including liaisons with the insurance company to determine appropriate action is taken for each individual claim
- Co-ordinate the end-to-end process for safety incidents on site
- Provide training to different groups of employees in relation to OHS issues including coaching and developing SHE competencies
- Mentor the development of OHS technical competencies of line managers and HS Reps and identify opportunities for further education and people development
What skills you will bring:
- Strong organisation skills and effective communication skills
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm
- Sound computer skills (MS Office)
- Sound project management skills is a plus
- Knowledge of OHS legislation and laws
- Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation and Return to work (RTW) programs
- Tertiary qualification with Certificate level in OHS/Risk Management/Rehabilitation preferred
