About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivatedSafety & Risk Advisorto join our Safety, Quality, Risk and Environment team. This position partners with workers and leaders across Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) to ensure compliance with the MTS Safety Management System (SMS).
Strive for continuous improvement by assisting in the development and delivery of safety initiatives and programs, to ensure SMS alignment with the Contractual requirements, WHS Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice and ISO 45001.
Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Support the delivery of a safe, reliable, efficient, and customer-friendly driverless railway system in accordance with the O&M Deed and other contract documents, and all other related requirements.
- Successfully contribute to the maintenance of MTS’s Rail Safety accreditation, SafeWork NSW, and IPART obligations outlined through Rail and NSW Statutory and Regulatory bodies, municipal councils, and community stakeholders.
- Initiate and drive continuous improvement of the safety and other relevant management systems including learning and development processes via regular audits, and trend analysis to better enable MTS to meet its legal and regulatory requirements, business objectives and KPIs.
- Lead the identification and management of safety risks, and employee competency risks, and manage incident response, investigations and remediation for safety issues.
- Undertake efficient data analysis and reporting to support timely monitoring of legislative, regulatory and governance compliance, and performance results.
About You
You possess significant experience in safety, preferably within a railway operation environment, including the professional management of safety requirements taking a risk-based approach.
In addition, experience in leading investigations/audits, managing relationships with third-party auditors and developing audit programs.
You will also possess the following:
- Diploma of Work Health and Safety, Cert IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
- Skilled management systems auditor certificate from Exemplar Global or similar equivalent certification bodies, or demonstrable experience.
- Incident Investigation qualifications - Incident Cause Analysis Methodology (ICAM), or demonstrable experience.
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment is desirable.
