Job Description:
- Sewing, altering, and repairing various types of dresses and garments.
- Working with different fabrics and materials.
- Using sewing machines, sergers, and other relevant tools and equipment.
- Reading and interpreting dress patterns.
- Ensuring high-quality workmanship and attention to detail.
- Working closely with the designer and advising the garment finishing or making process.
You need to be able to finish the whole garment by yourself. It’s not factory repeated work. You need to be flexible to deal with many different types of garments and fabrics. Because of the CARL KAPP’s simple design, the finishing has to be superb. Otherwise, it will stand out wrongly.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a sample sewing machinist or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in using industrial sewing machines and other relevant equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of different fabrics, their properties, and appropriate sewing techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret dress patterns and make necessary alterations.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship.
- Time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Education and Training:
These are preferable but not necessary
- A degree or diploma in fashion design, dressmaking, or a related field.
- Certification or training in specific sewing techniques or garment construction.
Experience:
- 15 years of experience as a sample sewing machinist or in a similar role.
Work Environment and Schedule:
? The work place is a studio, located in Paddington Sydney.
? The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. But, it’s negotiable.
? Full-time, part-time and contractor are available.
Benefits and Compensation:
Salary range is started $70,000 for a full time position depending on the skill.
It will be discussed during the interview process.
