The Oncology Department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead have a Permanent Full Time Staff Specialist position available with the Blood Transplant and Cells Therapies Service (BTCT). The commencement of this Permanent Full Time appointment is from 11th December 2023.

Additionally there is a Temporary Part Time 0.5FTE Staff Specialist position available from 1st July 2023 through to 10th December 2023 with no available extension.

The Blood Transplant and Cells Therapies Service (BTCT), within the Cancer Centre for Children at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, offers comprehensive blood and marrow transplant and cellular therapy service for children of all ages and with all diagnoses. This multi-disciplinary service is focused on delivering excellent clinical care to children and supporting their families. This appointment is expected to provide excellence and leadership translation of new therapies in the future.

The preferred applicant will be expected to apply for a conjoint academic title in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney at a level commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience. The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the University Department of Child and Adolescent Health. The academic title will be help for the duration of The Children's Hospital at Westmead appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment.

Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.

Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

  • Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Paediatric Oncology +/- Medical Oncology, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  • Demonstrated current clinical experience in Paediatric Blood Transplant and Cellular Therapies in a leadership role.
  • Evidence of satisfactory performance in a FACT or JACIE accredited BTCT service.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership of a multidisciplinary team incorporating effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
