The NSW Rural Fire Service protects the community and our environment by minimising the impact of fire and other emergencies. Our shared vision is to provide a world standard of excellence in the provision of a volunteer-based community fire and emergency service.
The NSW RFS is established under the Rural Fires Act 1997 and is responsible for preventing and suppressing fires in rural fire districts, as well as being the lead agency for bush fire-fighting across the State.
For over 100 years the NSW RFS has been a significant part of the history and landscape of NSW and is widely acknowledged as the largest volunteer fire service in the world.
Fighting fires and protecting the community from emergencies is the most visible aspect of the NSW RFS. The Service also has many responsibilities as the lead agency for bush fire management and mitigation in NSW. Working closely with other agencies, the NSW RFS responds to a range of emergencies including structure fires, motor vehicle accidents and storms that occur within rural fire districts.
You will be directly reporting to the Director of the department in this busy and dynamic role supporting the planning, organising and coordinating of human resources, financial activities and projects/programs that enable effective business services.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Managing the Director's workflow, diary/calendar management
- Update and maintain records, registers and files, databases, complying with records management processes, ensuring information is accurate, stored correctly and accessible
- Coordinate meetings/workshops including preparing agendas, organising venues and catering, taking and distributing meeting minutes
- Triaging the Directors inbox and responding to lower level priorities
- Prepare correspondence, develop and maintain spreadsheets, develop and review content for internal publication
- Provide purchasing assistance for the team such as obtaining quotes, raising orders, receipting goods, stock/budget reports
Skills/Experience:
- High level administration skills
- Proficient understanding in the use of Microsoft Office
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, highly organised and the ability to work autonomously
- Enthusiastic with an ability to multitask and work in a busy environment
- Adaptable in an ever-changing environment
- Computer skills, ability to pick up new systems quickly
