As a Senior API Engineer, you'll work on game-changing products and services that millions of people use every day. At the front face of digital transformation in government, you'll use the newest technologies to solve problems and build fast, stable software that matters.

Your day-to-day

Responsibilities will include:
  • Actively contribute to and guide innovation in API practices and incorporate agile delivery approaches and technologies that assist with the development and delivery of high-quality software
  • Carry out and deliver efficient/repeatable API platform engineering and application maintenance tasks through the orchestration and strategy-building tools to ensure optimal performance
  • Assist in changes to API software engineering and operations with the adoption of new technologies that benefit the delivery of automated, highly scalable systems and implement proactive monitoring, alerting, trend analysis across multiple components of the platform to ensure fit for purpose
  • Deliver technical consulting and subject matter expertise to projects, including pre-project to ensure risks, interdependencies and exceptions are identified, mitigated or escalated and solutions are formulated in alignment with ICT strategy and architecture
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other team members to achieve high levels of performance in meeting project/unit objectives
Your experience

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience with API gateways like Apigee highly preferred
  • Conversant in common Internet technologies and protocols (HTTP, SSL, REST, JSON, XML, etc.)
  • Integration experience of following dev and test tools with CI/CD pipelines
  • General Devops and CI/CD experience
  • Previous experience with Python Script, SOAP Services and Javascript
  • Executing implementation, documentation, integration, and support operations of a variety of REST API projects - consuming and developing REST APIs
  • Micro Services development experience
  • Git experience is required
  • Experience with modern operations, network troubleshooting and security implementation - AD, LDAP, SAML, OAUTH, Certificates, Encryption etc.
  • Ability to write effective technical documentation such as tutorials and API design spec
  • Ability to work/interact with IT and Business stakeholders
  • Background in Software Development
  • Python and Shell scripting
