Our Corporate Tax team provide tailored advice and insights for every aspect of the corporate tax process, helping our clients to manage business-specific tax challenges such as tax audits, international tax issues, corporate governance obligations, and mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and deal structuring.

We are looking for a Senior Associate with significant Financial Services industry knowledge to join our Corporate Tax team. While the successful candidate will ideally be based in Sydney or willing to relocate, please note that we would also consider exceptional candidates able to work from our other offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne or Perth.
Working as part of an established, highly knowledgeable and supportive team to deliver an exceptional experience for financial services clients - from banks, private equity and and funds managers to insurance providers - you will advise on a wide range of matters relating to the Australian taxation regime.
With no two days the same, your duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Preparation of company and trust tax returns, including consolidated company tax returns, for a wide range of large financial services clients
- Preparation and review of tax-effect accounting calculations
- Research and assistance with tax consulting advice (such as tax consolidation, tax treaties, hybrid mismatches, Controlled Foreign Companies, withholding taxes, thin capitalisation, permanent establishments, AMITs etc)
- Assisting clients with M&A activities, including tax structuring and tax due diligence services
- Research and assist with preparing advice and calculations in connection with international tax issues
- Assist clients with ATO reviews, governance matters and audits
- Working with the ATO to obtain rulings for clients
- Researching and analysing technical tax issues and preparation of tax reports
- Assisting with business development initiatives and proposals
- Preparing for and attending meetings with clients
The budgeted remuneration range for this role is $80,000 to $115,000, inclusive of superannuation and commensurate with skills and experience.
This is a 'pure' Corporate Tax role suited to a driven, experienced tax professional who is eager to accelerate their career within a rewarding team environment. Approaching problems with a positive attitude and solutions focus, you are excited by the prospect of collaborating with corporate clients and guiding them through the process from start to finish.
- University degree in a related discipline, such as Accounting / Finance, Business / Commerce, Legal and / or relevant professional qualification(s)
- Previous exposure (ideally 2 years) to large corporate tax clients in a commercial or professional services environment
- Good understanding of taxation of entities in Australia and basic understanding of taxes is a plus
- Understanding of basic tax effect accounting calculations to determine tax liabilities
- Analytical skills and an inquisitive mindset, with a desire to deeply understand clients' businesses, challenges and confident in applying knowledge to routine matters
- Previous experience in assisting and coaching less experienced team members
- Demonstrable strong work ethic and commitment to excellent client service
