About the Role
Our long-standing relationships and deep knowledge of the insurance industry have seen us recognised as the premier Insurance Law & Litigation practice in Australia.
As Senior Associate you will provide General Insurance clients with relevant legal advice regarding property recoveries and construction (liability) claims, including:
- Managing litigation as part of a team
- Providing advice to insurers on cover
- Have primary responsibility for the day to day running of litigation including document management, correspondence with opposing solicitors, appearing at settlement conferences and court attendances
- Preparing briefs for Counsel and attending hearings with Counsel
- Retaining expert witnesses and finalising witness reports
- Interviewing lay witnesses and preparing drafts of lay witness statements
- Regular liaison with clients on related matters
- Corresponding and obtaining instructions from clients, both insured and insurers
- Maintaining client portals
- Assisting with the preparation and presentation of workshops for clients
- Collaborating with senior practitioners and other team members
- Coaching and mentoring junior lawyers
- Supporting graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotations
- Retaining and building business
About You
- Suitable candidates will bring 4+ years PAE working principally in general insurance (defendant litigation) team
- Experience prosecuting property recovery claims welcomed
- Tertiary qualification in Law and a current Practising Certificate for relevant jurisdiction
- You will have excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, with the demonstrated ability to build and strengthen professional relationships resulting in a track record of superior client service and outcomes
- Excellent critical reasoning and investigative skills with the ability to think laterally
Highly organised, able to plan and prioritise work to meet key deliverables
Proven ability to facilitate presentations and meetings with varying sizes of groups of people - Identifies risks and complies with group risk management protocol
