Your contribution
- Develop and implement initiatives related to Indigenous tourism that align with the whole-of-government tourism strategy
- Contribute to the development and delivery of programs that will foster the economic development of the tourism industry, with a particular focus on business development of Indigenous tourism operators and experiences
- Provide timely, high-level briefings, submissions, reports, correspondence and presentations on a range of tourism policy and program issues to Senior Management, the Minister, other government agencies and key stakeholders
- Support and influence the design, development, promotion and delivery of projects, programs and initiatives that drive Indigenous tourism business development, growth and resilience
- Contribute to implementation of the Whole-of-Government tourism strategy in partnership with the tourism industry and other government agencies.
- Participate in and lead (as appropriate) multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver timely responses to tourism industry related programs and initiatives
- Liaise, negotiate and develop effective networks with senior internal and external stakeholders (including government agencies, industry and business associations) including Indigenous businesses, Prescribed Body Corporates and other key stakeholders
- Represent the department at interdepartmental and interagency meetings and forums as required.
Service: deliver OCAS to operational or emerging Indigenous businesses in the region. Run a community of practice of enablers in the region to support the work.
The work to be done by this OCAS Officer include
- Drive the future for Indigenous tourism in the region
- Build a culturally trusted relationship with Indigenous people and liaise, negotiate, and develop effective networks with senior internal and external stakeholders including Indigenous businesses, Prescribed Body Corporates, and other key stakeholders (Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs) within footprint) - we can break this down to successful applicant when appointed
- Be the interface between Indigenous peoples/businesses and government for the commercial development of Indigenous tourism experiences
- Help the Indigenous businesses and Indigenous experience sector with clear guidance on framing their vision and pathway to success and securing collaborators and support on that pathway
- Respond to issues related to Indigenous tourism in the region, including emergent public facing matters that require softening; support the Minister, Assistant Minister and government officials with client meetings.
- Showcase Indigenous tourism success stories including preparing case studies.
