Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Senior Career and Employment Advisor to join Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Indigenous Strategy, Chancellery Division.
The Senior Career and Employment Advisor is responsible for providing strategic advice and designing and implementing strategies to enhance the career options and employability of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students. To achieve this, the position uses specialist expertise to provide career advice to students while developing, delivering and monitoring programs that improve the students’ career readiness during their degree and at the time of completion. In addition, the position promotes career opportunities and/or pathways into higher education to prospective students.

All Oodgeroo Unit staff are required to work across both campuses. The Oodgeroo Unit is situated within the Chancellery Division, Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Australians..
What you need to succeed
Education, training and/or experience equivalent to a professional qualification in a field related to career advice and employment practice, combined with extensive relevant experience.
Demonstrated connection to and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and identities with an understanding and appreciation of the diversity, values, and protocols required to work effectively and respectfully with the community.
Excellent organisational skills and a demonstrated capacity to lead staff and drive programs/projects/initiatives in a complex environment, and to respond flexibly to rapidly changing educational situations.
Proven interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to write reports, program documentation, and analyse performance to a high standard.
Demonstrated understanding of the issues which affect adult career development, retention and success in higher education, as well as a commitment to working from a social justice framework.
Demonstrated ability to foster mutually beneficial, inclusive and innovative partnerships to support student success, and the ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
