We have been retained exclusively to represent a leading multi-disciplinary construction company with extensive experience across major projects in both the private and government sectors. Recently identified as the Number 1 - SMEs National Defence (Building) contractor (2021), this principal contractor has secured multiple defence projects Nationally, some of these circa  $700M+ providing a period of “ongoing” project opportunities that will see them project active for the next 5 years.
 
Growth is firmly on the agenda for our client and subsequently, they now require a highly competent Senior Civil Estimator to complement their current team and play a key role in the "Civil Operations" pre-contracts discipline.
 
To be successful in securing this opportunity, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skill set and experience;
 
  • Highly proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive and flexible attitude coupled with an ability to self-manage and multi-task 
  • Ability to work in a team and support successful projects for cost management and trade letting.
  • Experience with assistance in the development of submission documentation.
  • Ability to work towards key deadlines in a methodical and organised approach.
  • Ability and willingness to lead and mentor developing talent around you.
  • Minimum 5 years’ civil contracting experience in Australia, in an estimating role with a mid or top-tier civil construction company.
Tasks and responsibilities will include ;
  • Maintain awareness of current and future tenders and market requirements in general, liaise with Tender / Bid Coordinator for inclusion of any new potential opportunities
  • Prepare tender analysis and distribute for Go / No Go
  • Take a lead role in the coordination, preparation and presentation of tender pricing in accordance with company procedures
  • Review the proposed contract and any client-issued project preliminaries for impact on scope and any potential for price coverage
  • Review trade and general specifications for dissemination and identification of key scope inclusions and/or deficiencies
  • Identification of areas of risk and opportunities in each tender, development of a Risk and Opportunity Report for assessment in each tender review
  • Monitoring of design cost and identification of practical cost-saving solutions for consideration by the Bid Manager / Design Team
The successful applicant will be a genuine "lead' in this team and will have key input around bid strategy and process. Traditionally, our client has delivered across a broad scope of project environments including government (roads and traffic infrastructure), Defence (bulk and detailed civil works, technically challenging pavement projects) and significant flood mitigation work.
 
This is a Darwin head office-based role with some 'short term" travel opportunities to various sites.
