Position Fraction: Full time (minimum 0.8 Position)
Location: Based in Morwell MDC 

POSITION

 This position of Senior Clinician Crisis Care – Sexual Assault Support Service and Family Violence Afterhours Service has oversight of the following: 

  1. The leadership and provision of direct team support and supervision to the Counsellor Advocates within the Afterhours Crisis Care team and sexual Assault Support Services.
  2. Support Rostering of the Team to effectively deliver the service.
  3. Ensure the team are in inducted to and supported to undertake initial assessment of need for all clients entering the service, including identification and assessment of risk using Multi Agency Risk and Managment framework (MARAM) and Suicide Assessment Kit (SAK) and safety planning and the use of SHIP client management system.
  4. Lead and cultivate service development and positive team cohesion and the ongoing support and continued professional development of sexual assault support service.
  5. Oversee the advocacy support needs for clients within their family and service system including but not limited to, police, justice, medical, educational, child protection, community services and family support services.
  6. Provide advice and secondary consultation to other professionals and organisations in relation to sexual assault and family violence and working proactively with the service system to achieve positive client evidence-based outcomes.  These stakeholders include Safe Steps, Victoria Police, Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM), The Orange Door, Child Protection, medical professionals and accommodation providers.
  7. Lead and or participate in collaborative practice through the development of formal Memorandums of Understanding.
  8. This role will be responsible for the collection and reporting of monthly and quarterly statistical and financial data through the SHIP system.
  9. Monitor and maintain appropriate systems and client records as required.
  10. Raise awareness of GCASA Crisis Care After Hours service within the sector and community and to develop effective relationships to support referrals and enquiries received from professionals, GCASA’s MDC partners and maintain networks with relevant professional groups and community-based organisations. 


Key Selection Criteria

  1. Degree level qualification or equivalent certification from a nationally accredited provider in social welfare, counselling, social work, family therapy, psychology, creative arts therapies, or community mental health nursing and a minimum of 2 years recent supervisory experience working within a Therapeutic service and or crisis care service.
  2. Knowledge related to the incidence and impact of sexual assault and family violence as well as an understanding of the gender dynamics that support the occurrence of sexual assault and family violence.
  3. Demonstrated understanding and experience with providing and guiding clinical assessment including case formulation, the provision of therapeutic recommendations and goal and intervention planning in a supervisory role.
  4. Demonstrated understanding and application of theoretical frameworks underpinning trauma – informed counselling for children, young people (including an understanding of child development theory) and adults, including feminist empowerment philosophy and social inclusion theory. 
  5. Understanding and experience in providing crisis care response including psychological first aid is desirable.
  6. Well-developed client record keeping capacity, including case noting, administrative and time management skills, and the ability to multi-task and use a broad range of computer and IT skills. 
  7. Demonstrated skills in developing team communications, working practices, and fostering positive workplace culture.


The successful applicant will:

  • Hold a current Victorian driver’s licence.
  • Hold a current Working with Children’s check.
  • Provide current National police check.
  • Must be Vaccinated for COVID-19 
  • Be on a on call roster for the afterhours team. 
  • Flexible hours are offered to support the ongoing development and support to afterhours team.
