Allygroup is seeking a senior lawyer with a minimum of five years of commercial law experience. This is a nine-month secondment opportunity with a strong possibility for a long-term extension.
The ideal candidate will be available full-time but part time arrangements may be considered. The secondee would ideally be working from the office located in Canberra all or most of the time to facilitate face-to-face coaching and mentoring with our lawyers. The Agency is also open to flexible arrangements such as 1 week on / 1 week off working from the Canberra office, or working part time from the Canberra office, or similar hybrid arrangements.
Duties will include
Providing legal advice and management, guidance and second counselling of advice prepared by junior lawyers; drafting documents, including legal advice; assisting with internal reporting/briefing requirements; and any other work required by a lawyer working in an in-house government environment.
The seconded lawyer will work proactively and independently (seeking guidance when required) and will work collaboratively with clients to understand and anticipate their needs.
The role will specifically work as part of the Commercial law team across the two sub-legal teams (Commercial law and Property law) advising on a range of matters. The secondee should have experience working with in-house legal teams, client teams and external advisers. The lawyer should have experience advising on contract management issues for Commonwealth contracts.
You will be expected to contribute to the Agency’s legal team during the Secondment Period by:
a) providing guidance to other team members;
b) demonstrating new tools and technology;
c) sharing challenges as they arise and the development of solutions;
d) developing templates, tools and training materials for the Agency to use; and
e) facilitating and participating in education sessions with Agency staff on topics of broader interest.
