Purpose of the Role
The role of Senior Company Secretary, Wealth Management is responsible for leading a small team providing professional corporate secretarial and governance advisory services and support to a range of committees, boards and entities within the Wealth Management portfolio, including advice, platforms and investments, and Group entities.
The role also requires work with other members of the Group Legal – Corporate & Governance team to undertake a range of legal and governance projects across the AMP Group.
More specifically your responsibilities will be:
Develop and maintain outstanding working relationships with directors, executives and other business stakeholders
Identify and eliminate governance activity that does not create value
Be a trusted adviser to the Board on company secretariat and governance matters at Board meetings
Engage with directors and business stakeholders to identify and manage corporate governance issues, initiatives and opportunities
With the Head of Corporate Governance and the Senior Company Secretaries, implement fit for purpose corporate governance initiatives, projects and policies
Plan, develop and implement governance projects
Co-ordinate, attend and provide support at board and committee meetings, document minutes, actively manage the progress of matters arising, maintain governance documents and policies, provide general corporate governance and secretarial advice and support across the business
Manage compliance with our corporate governance framework and legal and regulatory requirements
Provide governance advice on matters relating to the respective Board portfolio allocation
What you will bring to the role:
Tertiary qualifications in business, law or related field
Minimum 6 years of experience as a company secretary
Knowledge and experience of the financial services industry and the legal and regulatory regime, including knowledge of managed investment schemes, responsible entity and AFSL obligations
People leader who enjoys coaching, developing and motivating the team
Exceptional understanding of corporate governance issues (both at policy and implementation level)
Experience in liaising and building effective relationships with non-executive directors, executives and other senior internal business partners and regulators
Excellent priority and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication and decision-making skills
