Form of work VPS5 Senior Complaints Investigators needed to join the Complaints and Improvement unit (CIU) for a 6-month contract. The CIU is responsible for investigating/reviewing parent/carer complaints regarding government schools that have escalated from the school and region

Duties and Responsibilities:
At the outset, gain agreement with the parent/carer on the specific points that will be included in the review
Gather and review structured and unstructured information e.g. emails, file notes
Speak with multiple stakeholders during the course of the review, including other departmental colleagues, school staff
Identify and review departmental policies relevant to the complaints, with support from the team manager
Form an unbiased assessment of each complaint, with a focus on identifying improvements
Produce well-written response letters and outcome reports that are clear, concise, and written without
Requirements and Qualifications:
Relevant tertiary qualification Project management is desirable
Ability to learn and navigate new technologies.
Previous experience in complaint investigation is required
While previous legal experience may serve well as it relates to rigor and the ability to reach an unbiased outcome, it is not mandatory/required
Must be able to communicate with parents/carers with empathy, and also have the confidence to explain our process
The ability to build trust with parent/carer is critical, which includes setting clear expectations, doing what you say you will do, and ensuring that procedural fairness is afforded
