What's the opportunity?
Through this full time role you will provide insightful modelling and power market analysis on
the Australian energy market as well as other key markets in Asia Pacific with a focus on
Japan and Taiwan initially, but also New Zealand, Philippines and Vietnam.
Based in our Cremorne office, Melbourne reporting to the Director of Energy Markets,
responsibilities will see you:
- Develop and run energy forecast models on PLEXOS and the in-house storage
dispatch engine (Bruton)
- Develop new methodologies and research approaches in energy markets, and
manage related external consultants
- Update and refine our simulation suite of BESS dispatch optimisation tools
- Provide in-depth analysis of the markets trends and policy impacts
- Identify new opportunities and techno commercial advisory for new and emerging
products and services
- Contribute to the monitoring and optimisation of operating facilities, and identify and
deliver systems improvements
- Support business development activities
What you will bring to the role:
You possess a strategic and innovative mindset and are able to work across several projects

The successful candidate will be also able to demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, science, commerce/economics, mathematics,
or a related discipline
- At least 3 years of demonstrable energy modelling experience and strong analytical,
research, and/or model development experience
- Advanced skills in PLEXOS software (ideally for the NEM)
- In-depth understanding of the engineering and economic principles of the Australian
energy and Asia-Pacific market
- Exceptional communication, report writing, and creative presentation skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and complex modelling skills
- High degree of IT literacy including coding skills e.g. in VBA and Python
- Robust Design Engineering principles to Energy System Modelling including Design
of Experiments (DOE), Response Surface Modelling (RSM), Optimisation, and
Monte-Carlo simulations
- Knowledge of power generation and storage technologies, as well as emerging
energy technologies such as green hydrogen, Virtual Power Plants and electric
vehicles
- A deep desire to actively contribute to the energy transition for a more sustainable
