The role
You will be a recognised leader nationally and/or internationally in the field of Epidemiology, responsible for providing expert epidemiological advice to the Chief Health Officer as well as direction on the public health management of a range of health conditions and service utilisation such as:
- communicable diseases across Queensland, including the assessment and analysis of public health risk and providing expert advice on the impact of public health measures to control transmission.
- other health conditions or social factors of interest or concern, such as non-communicable chronic diseases and health risk factors such as smoking or obesity.
The successful person
You will have:
- Strategic and clinical leadership in the field of epidemiology, data analysis, surveillance and outbreak response.
- High level critical thinking and problem-solving skills in formulating and providing strategic and operational public health advice to the planning, implementation and evaluation of surveillance, prevention and control programs and projects as they relate to public health and population health in Queensland.
- Authoritative, accurate, time critical high-level epidemiological and public health advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on the program.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and apply innovative and strategic public health approaches at a state and national level.
- Development of professional capabilities within a diverse multidisciplinary team.
