The Role:
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is a specialist planning and property development unit within state government which is responsible for delivering the facilitation of economic development, and development for community purposes. This opportunity for a Senior Development Manager in the Urban Development team provides the chance to work major mixed-use urban precincts of state significance.
The Urban Development team works with key industry partners and stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of development projects in a way which maximises economic, social and environmental outcomes for the State. These projects include large multi[1]year residential, mixed-use and urban renewal development projects (ranging in size from $10m over 1-2 years to $12b over 30 years) which generate ongoing employment opportunities, activate further development or create thriving communities.
The Opportunity:
The Senior Development Manager role presents a great opportunity to join EDQ's Urban Development team and lead a range of projects including large and/or complex urban precincts which facilitate renewal, residential projects which respond to community need, commercial and retail activities which generate on-going economic development and opportunities, including the planning and delivery of supporting infrastructure.
In this role, you will engage with a range of key stakeholders, including state agencies, local councils, and the private development industry to deliver major Urban renewal projects. You will lead a professional team including EDQ staff, consultants and contractors. You will be responsible for major development and transactions, often in complex environments with considerable community and economic implications. This role offers the unique and exciting opportunity to work across multiple project types. You will also gain exposure to innovation and new ideas as well as be in an environment that promotes and facilitates learning, and provides flexible work arrangements.
About You:
Ideally you will be able to demonstrate exceptional strategic skills and the ability to build meaningful stakeholder relationships. You will also demonstrate a record of leading the successful delivery and management of the numerous stages of development of complex projects, including feasibility, due diligence, business case, stakeholder management, strategic planning, precinct/site master-planning, delivery strategy/staging, design, construction, leasing/sales, marketing and handover/ closeout.
You will be able to work autonomously and enjoy the challenge that comes with working in a fast-paced environment on critical issues. A passion for property is essential, and you will be measured on your ability to problem solve, be innovative, build key relationships, your commercial focus and your ability to be responsive.
Relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded as well as the ability to easily learn new systems/procedures/governance processes.
