The job opportunity

The Senior Digital Producer will take primary responsibility for the ongoing coordination and production of the Australia’s Defining Moments Digital Classroom website and digital assets. The occupant of the role will work with independence, subject to limited direction from the Manager, Digital against established priorities, practices, and methodologies to deliver quality outcomes.

The occupant of the role will also plan, manage, and execute the delivery of other digital products and projects for exhibition and online delivery, including managing all third-party relationships and contracts with relevant digital suppliers. 

The Senior Digital Producer scopes digital product requirements and monitors their delivery to meet deadlines within budget. This includes conducting user research and business analysis, scoping and managing all stages of development including specifications, procurement, interface and experience design, and iterations through alpha, beta, and implementation phases.

During the project lifecycle, the Senior Digital Producer will perform thorough quality-assurance testing on delivered products to ensure they meet the requirements, including assessing these against user needs, best practice, and industry standards.

The Senior Digital Producer will manage project budgets, resourcing and delivery schedules relating to individual projects and outputs and maintain an excellent level of project administration and reporting in line with the Museum’s record management policy and project management methodology.

The occupant of the role will contribute to the development and management of new partnership and collaboration opportunities for digital initiatives and may supervise and provide guidance to junior project staff as required. They will also contribute to the development of team objectives for short-term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiatives.

What will the successful candidate bring to the role?

The ideal candidate will be an experienced project manager with a thorough understanding of the product development lifecycle and methods for software development and website projects. 

The ideal candidate will have experience in current web technologies including production requirements for the use of text, images, audio, and video content. They will have proven experience working with website content management systems.  

The ideal candidate will have the ability to write clear project briefs and tender documents and work collaboratively with colleagues and external contractors to achieve work area and agency goals. They will have a strong portfolio of digital products and experience in navigating their way through complex organisational and project structures. They will monitor changes in the broader work environment that may impact on work objectives.

They ideal candidate will be a creative self-starter and enthusiastic about the capacity for digital technology to offer outstanding experiences and high-quality content to audiences. They will have a sound understanding of digital trends, advancements and innovation, and an ability to investigate creative and technical solutions to solve problems and realise opportunities.

Selection criteria 

Applicants must respond to each of the following selection criteria in their application (250 words maximum per criterion)

  1. Demonstrated experience working with website content management systems and knowledge of website production requirements for the use of text, images, audio, and video content. 
  2. Proven experience coordinnating and producing high-quality digital products, ideally for delivery in a physical space and online, including the management of resources, schedules, budgets, and priorities.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a multidisciplinary team in the development and implementation of high-quality digital products. 
  4. Demonstrated application of good conceptual and analytical skills to develop briefs and tender documents for digital platforms and applications. 
  5. Demonstrated high-level communication skills, including the ability to write for a range of audiences, and to negotiate successfully with diverse stakeholders.
  6. Demonstrated high-level analytical skills and proven ability to think and act strategically.
