Job Description

Job Title: Senior Engineering Manager – Maritime Autonomy

Location: Canberra

Your New Role

Gibbs & Cox have an opportunity for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead Gibbs & Cox Australia’s Maritime Autonomy Team, based in Canberra Australia.

Senior Engineering Manager Characteristics

Responsibilities

The position will include the following responsibilities:
  • Lead GCA’s maritime autonomy team
  • Lead the development of the EMAPS product family through design, prototype production, system integration, and test program.
  • Program management including establishing and managing development and delivery scopes, budgets and schedules.
  • Management of supplier and subcontractor relationships, contracts, scopes, budgets, schedules and product acceptance.
  • Manage the export of product data, software and physical products from Australia to the US and the export of US-developed software and mission elements from the US back to Australia.
  • Business development, promotion, product demonstration and sales management to a range of potential customers in Australia and worldwide.
  • Manage the contracting, production and delivery of ASV systems to various customers in Australia and worldwide.
  • Identify and respond to autonomous system development opportunities by evolving existing products and developing new products.
Qualifications

The position requires the following high-level attributes:
Important / desirable attributes:
  • Bachelor and/or master’s degree qualified engineering manager with strong knowledge, experience, and expertise in maritime programs. Naval experience is highly advantageous.
  • Experienced project management practitioner, with a minimum of 10 years program management experience in the marine sector. A formal project management certification is an advantage.
  • Strong experience in maritime and naval systems integration and software development.
  • Experience developing, reviewing and managing contractual requirements, project plans and business processes.
  • A positive, customer-focussed attitude, with high professional standards
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate with and coordinate work across a complex stakeholder group with divergent interests.
  • 10 years or more experience managing or leading teams of various sizes, including experience managing experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments
Additional Information

The successful applicant is required to hold a valid NV1 security clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid security clearance as well as other mandatory background checks including a National Police check.
