Senior Facade Engineer

Prism are looking for a talented senior façade designer or drafter to join our consultancy team in Sydney, to assist in the delivery of amazing projects

We’re looking for someone who…

• Loves façade design and architecture!
• Has an eye for detail
• Is experienced with detailing facades in AutoCAD or similar
• Is experienced with Revit
• Can work both independently and collaboratively in a team
• Is confident with the fundamentals of façade design, such as waterproofing and fabrication methods
• Has a willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Has a minimum of 6 years’ experience
• Has working rights in Australia

Looked upon favourably, but not essential:

• Can prepare detailed structural engineering calculations and modelling
• Can carry out thermal modelling of façade elements using Therm and Window
• Can carry out condensation analyses of façade build-ups
• Can model façade assemblies in 3D using Rhino, Sketchup, or similar

Responsibilities

• Work with project teams to develop the façade concept and performance requirements;
• Produce and deliver high quality detailed design documentation for our clients in a timely and efficient manner;
• Provide technical advice on facades for project teams;
• Carry out construction stage services on projects, as a peer reviewer of documentation and installation;
• Represent Prism Facades as an experienced professional in the field of facade engineering and design;
• Assist in the business development of Prism Facades;
• Promote clear, concise and timely communication at all times with our clients;
• Promote a collaborative and constructive approach to project work, with clients and other project stakeholders;
• Share professional knowledge and experiences within the business;
• Keep up to date with the latest developments in facade design, and practice continued professional development;
• Mentor and manage more junior members of staff, inclusive of internal documentation reviews prior to issue.

Duties

• Lead project teams within Prism, and coordinate the project requirements;
• Attend client meetings and workshops with other engineers, architects and contractors to develop the facade design to meet project requirements, and to meet Australian standards and codes for structural, thermal, weatherproofing, acoustic and aesthetic requirements
• Prepare detailed drawings using CAD to show how the facade can be built to meet all of the project requirements and Australian Standards
• Prepare facade specifications to specify all of the facade requirements during final design, fabrication and installation
• Participate in technical research required to understand evolving project and Australian code requirements
• Carry out technical submission reviews from specialist facade contractors, to review calculations, shop drawings and samples for technical performance
• Respond to queries from our client, the main contractor, or specialist facade contractors on the project facade requirements, or Australian code requirements
• Carry out inspections of facade elements being fabricated, such as to glass factories, or facade assembly factories, to assess and report on QA and the elements prior to delivery to the project site
• Carry out site inspections to witness the facade installation, throughout all stages of construction, to assess and report on the final product meets the project requirements

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $110,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
