Senior Finance Officer

Working within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Financial & Property Services (FPS), this position plays a key role in managing the branch's finances and performance. The Senior Finance Officer will lead on budget management and finance and performance reporting for the branch and be responsible for related key projects. The incumbent is required to work across the Branch and the Department providing strategic advice and operational support to the CFO and the directors of the Workplace Services and Finance Services units.
The key accountabilities of the role will include but are not limited to:
- Manages the finances of the FPS branch and provides support to the CFO on development of branch budgets including forecasting, workforce reporting, identifying cost saving and efficiency opportunities as well as regular reporting on actual expenditure.
- Develops, prepares, and monitors routine and adhoc financial reports relating to the financial management of the Branch and Department. Provides analysis and advice on costs, including areas of concern and opportunities for improvements, as well as monitoring actual expenditure against branch budgets.
- Prepares output and capital budgets, monitors, and reports on expenditure against budgets, and works with management on any issues or risks including providing advice on proposed solutions.
- Provides authoritative explanations and advice on complex concepts, ideas and issues to facilitate decision making relating to the financial management of the branch.
- Manages the recovery/distribution of corporate costs managed by the branch for services delivered including accommodation costs, travel, fleet/fuel, carpool, stationery and printing costs.
To be considered for this position, a finance or accounting degree and/or professional qualification, such as CA/CPA, is required.
