3 month Temp to Permanent senior financial accounting contract with a global retail business located in the South of Sydney CBD.
Our client is looking for an experienced and skilled financial accountant to join the team to cover a resignation. The role could go permanent for the right candidate in 3-4 months.
The Role
Ensure timely, accurate and compliant statutory financial reporting for Sydney based and related entities globally, including group consolidations
Contribute to the day-to-day global accounting and improvement of the accounting function
Ensure accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with accounting policies, chart of accounts, and related accounting principles and practices and ensure that subordinate ledgers reconcile with the general ledger
Ensure timely and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations with a minimum clearance time for all reconciling items. Including reviewing and maintaining Blackline reconciliations for group
Produce clear comprehensive regular management reports with accompanying narrative through detailed finance review
Assist to create a function of best practise with ongoing continuous improvement through well documented and enhanced procedures and improvements in the controls and processes through greater automation and system development to drive efficiencies and value across the business.
Assist to identify and assess the impact of accounting standard changes on the group. In doing so, prepare sound professional advice on accounting treatment and propose and participate in the most effective implementation of any changes as a result
Support the Finance Manager to manage annual audits globally with global audit partners, recommend revisions to auditing policies, procedures and programs where necessary
About You
Qualifications
Over 5 years' post qualification experience with a combination of accounting/auditing roles in a global corporate group or a large accounting/audit firm;
Strong knowledge and understanding of International Accounting Standards, consolidations, global accounting, foreign currency and cross border transactions
Sound knowledge of internal control mechanisms and processes
Hands on, strong technical expert, with solid understanding and experience in best practice accounting, system and governance practices
Skills acquired or inherent abilities
CA/CPA Qualified
Proactive and able to work autonomously, but to also participate fully within the Finance Team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and able to collaborate with a range of stakeholders across all levels
Highly accurate with a strong attention to detail
Ability to multitask and effectively manage competing priorities
Naturally curious with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
