Primary objective

Provide high level client focused services and specialist technical advice regarding the creation, design, production,

geospatial analysis and quality assurance of maps, plans and datasets for the purpose of informed decision making and

consultation by government, industry and the community.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide high-level technical advice regarding the design, development and delivery of geospatial mapping services

including the implementation of technical specifications, policies and procedures.

2. Provide timely and cost effective client focussed geospatial mapping products and services including the

production of maps, legislative plans and digital data.

3. Contribute to the development and achievement of group objectives in a busy work environment.

4. Actively contribute to a process of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovative solutions.

5. Lead and actively participate in the implementation of new technologies in geospatial mapping services.

6. Implement a range of complex projects improving service delivery.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Relevant qualification awarded by an Australian institute, or equivalent; or relevant experience in a field of

technical work closely related to the duties of the position.

2. Experience with geospatial and drafting applications, such as Microstation and QGIS, in the production of maps

and plans.

3. Strong knowledge of and proven experience in delivering geospatial mapping products, services and advice.

4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and convey technical information to a range of clients.

5. Proven ability to plan and organize assigned tasks delivering a responsive service in an environment influenced by

competing priorities.

6. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, and resolution of issues through innovative practices.

7. Sound communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to interact effectively with people of

diverse cultures.

Desirable

1. Experience with using spatial data manipulation tools such as FME.

2. Knowledge of the land development lifecycle and its dependence on quality spatial information.
