About the job
We have a unique opportunity for a driven individual experienced in government and public relations to join our Australian External Affairs team located at our HQ in Booragoon supporting Alcoa’s Mining, Refining and Smelting operations across Western Australia and Victoria.
In this role, you will be an integral part of the delivery of Alcoa’s business strategy to sustain and grow our license to operate, and actively contribute with the development and implementation of Alcoa’s state and federal government engagement strategy and advocacy.
Additional aspects of the role include:
Collaboration with Corporate Affairs to develop a compelling business narrative to influence both external and internal stakeholders.
Providing advanced intelligence, analysis and recommendations on emerging policy and political issues impacting Alcoa’s Australian businesses to drive informed decision-making.
Maintaining strong awareness of the Australian public policy environment and supporting operations with government stakeholder engagement, mapping, and analysis.
Supporting senior management participation to association and industry executive boards, events, and high-level fora.
About you
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Qualifications in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Law, or a related field.
High-level communication skills and ability to effectively engage with and influence stakeholders.
Strategic acumen with demonstrated experience in policy analysis and stakeholder engagement.
A natural ability to quickly build rapport and strong networks with both internal and external stakeholders.
Robust understanding of the current Australian political, legal and policy landscape.
Prior experience working in government would be valuable; experience in a state or federal Ministerial office would be highly regarded.
