Job description

About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join BOQ Group (which includes Bank of Queensland, Virgin Money Australia and ME Bank) as a Senior Group Financial Accountant during our transformation journey on a 12-month maximum term basis. By joining the digital bank of the future, you will be able to make a difference with curiosity and optimism by supporting financial reporting requirements and system development, adding significant value to our organisation. With exciting projects currently underway, you will be a key contributor to unique business development and change across the BOQ Group.

As a Senior Group Financial Accountant, you will sit within BOQ Group’s financial control team, and will be responsible for ensuring the Bank’s financial reporting requirements are met. You will also seek for systems and controls to be continually developed, enabling timely, efficient and accurate reporting to executive management.

Your primary focus will be on the monthly and annual financial accounting for BOQ Group and subsidiaries, combined with the day-to-day activities for the finance function. This will include providing oversight and mentoring to Group Financial Accountants while assisting other Senior Financial Accountants and Group Finance Managers in ensuring that the Bank meets its management and statutory reporting deadlines.

Furthermore, you will be required to support the Group Financial Control manager in the consolidation and standardisation of financial control activities to drive efficiency and enhance controls, providing a platform to transition to the target future state following the broader finance transformation.

This role is challenging and exciting with a wide range of opportunities to help you take your career to the next level, where we are committed to helping you grow to become a top-tier professional in financial accounting.

About you

You will be a collaborative people and outcome focussed professional who thrives on working in a fast-paced environment and has a continuous improvement mindset. You will have a willingness and commitment to adapt and learn, having solid communication skills on a verbal and written level to articulate technical information and partner with team members.

Having previous accounting experience ideally within a financial control function, you will have proven technical accounting skills and implementation of new accounting standards. This role will require CPA/CA/ICAA qualifications (or international equivalent), supported by an understanding of control frameworks. Furthermore, you will have the ability to consistently meet deadlines with limited supervision from management.

Working for us is energetic and fast-paced, and we need top talent to take us where we want to go. BOQ Group people are easy to spot.
