About the role
Within the Everyday Rewards program, there are some 12m active members who receive offers personalised to them via a 'next best action' decision engine. In any given week, what are the right offers to send customers?
The infrastructure and logic for this is well established in the business though there are continuing opportunities to optimise the logic and to make adjustments based on changes to business priorities. The analyst in this role studies the performance of the campaigns enabled by this decisioning engine and provides insights and strategic recommendations to the marketing and data science teams.
Where does my role sit?
This role sits within Media Platforms & Product, working closely with data scientists, engineers and with the marketing squads in charge of executing the campaigns.
Key responsibilities
- All analysts in Woolies X operate independently in their squads and have to be self-sufficient in managing their own time, prioritisation and relationships.
- Gather requirements, scope work, and work consultatively with the Squad Lead to plan and deliver measurement support for the decisioning engine.
- Become a subject matter expert on the assumptions and inputs of the decisioning engine in collaboration with the Data Scientists (it's not a requirement of the role to build any models but it would help to have some familiarity with Data Science workflows and concepts).
- Maintain documentation on analytical approaches for the optimisation of the personalisation engine.
- Conduct data analysis using SQL and other tools.
- Maintain good relationships with collaborators within Data Products and stakeholders primarily across marketing and ecommerce.
- Provide analysis and ongoing commentary on campaign performance driven by the marketing decisioning engine.
- Perform ad hoc analysis using SQL and other tools of your choice. Present findings to audiences both technical and non-technical.
- Build self-service reporting tools as appropriate.
- Propose opportunities for conducting A/B tests, and lead the implementation of testing plans
- Proactively share knowledge with other analysts and use Chapter time to keep learning new analytical techniques.
- Manage stakeholder relationships in marketing and ecommerce.
- Excellent communication skills, with good written English
- Strong visual presentation skills
- 5+ years experience in data analysis from a background in digital or consulting.
- Highly skilled in writing complex SQL code.
- Experience driving insights from data and presenting the findings with recommendations to different sets of stakeholders.
- Ability to think clearly about the underlying business problems and to consultatively recommend data-driven approaches to solving them.
- Ability to manage workload and relationships in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Experience with BigQuery (ideal)
- Experience with Agile methodologies (ideal)
- You thrive when given independence. You will be trusted to manage your own workload and relationship with stakeholders.
- You have some familiarity with Data Science concepts
- You enjoy presenting technical topics to non-technical audiences, finding ways to adjust your presentation style.
- You have a growth mindset and are continually learning.
- You enjoy working with Google platforms.
- You write well and enjoy documenting your learnings.
- You are undaunted to work in a large organisation with complex interrelationships between teams.
