Permanent, part-time, 4 days per week | Sydney based

We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Landscape Architect to join the design team in Sydney. This role will involve design review to ensure delivery of consistent and high-quality outcomes across a broad range of projects in the Residential and Mixed-use portfolio, and will be involved with communicating/presenting design to the broader business.

This is a permanent opportunity, working part-time, 4 days per week.

The Opportunity - About the Role

Working closely with the other members of the Stockland Design & Delivery teams to develop and implement a design strategy that delivers consistent high-quality outcomes across residential and mixed-use projects.

You will contribute to a design excellence culture with opportunities to be involved in vision workshops and master plans; to ensure all projects deliver value, create quality, and realise commercial success. You will also support and contribute to activities that align to the design strategy and deliver on Stockland’s purpose “We believe there is a better way to live”. Along with elevating our reputation as a leader in residential design, community curation and creation.

This role has a national focus and is orientated to the public domain on priority projects, although collaboration and expert advice will be called upon across a variety of project and asset types.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

Work with the Landscape Design Lead (Strategy) to provide project direction and guidance for; conceptual landscape design and placemaking in a strategic manner, across projects, to deliver outcomes which meet the company’s purpose.
Provide specialist landscape design advice to support mixed and single use developments across Stockland’s portfolio, including consultant selection, scopes design briefs and guidance for the design of the public domain to support Stockland’s brand.
Assist Business Development team on acquisitions opportunities nationally, as required, by preparing reference Design Scheme Design and yield assessments or by guiding, reviewing, and commenting on external consultant schemes.
Drive consistency and quality across all developments, incorporating strategic direction developed by Landscape Design Lead (Strategy).
Ensure landscape design expertise delivered by external consultants is consistent with Stockland standards and practices, particularly in the preparation of concepts for planning applications.
Ensure creative and analytical thinking resulting in consistently efficient, high-quality outcomes.
Build Stockland IP, best practice and benchmarks related to Landscape - to ensure that customers perceive a value difference between Stockland and competitor projects.
Support and collaborate with Stockland Group Business Units on specific initiatives and strategies.
Contribute to managing key landscape consultant relationship.
Collaborate with Project Coordinators across projects and in creating best practice and minimum standards.
Provide advice to assist Development Managers in setting budgets and costs.
Assist in defects inspections of prototypes. Contribute to Lessons learnt.

About You

Tertiary Qualification in Landscape Architecture
Relevant experience in the design, planning and delivery of contemporary master planned, multi- residential landscape
Demonstrated experience in delivering exceptional urban precincts and public domain and place
Experience with large scale urban projects, and working across multiple projects at various stages
Successful and timely delivery working within statutory planning frameworks and approval processes
Understanding of macro to micro landscape design issues
Collaborating and managing design with external consultancies/agencies (desirable)
Collaborative approach, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
In-depth knowledge and understanding of planning frameworks, project management processes, statutory compliance regulation and standards, sustainability standards; construction and buildability.
Commitment to problem solving and optimising solutions within commercial parameters.
Developed/contributed to a Design Frameworks, best practice, and efficient ways of working (desirable)
Developer/Client-side experience (desirable)
